Town Administrator's Office

Overview

The Town Administrator serves as the chief administrative officer for the Town of Lyons and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town government.   The Administrator is here to help keep Lyons running smoothly every day by acting as a liaison among the Board of Trustees, Town staff, and the community, translating policy decisions into effective operations and outcomes that benefit everyone. It is the Town Administrator’s job to make sure decisions are implemented efficiently and transparently.

Key Responsibilities

The Town Administrator’s role includes:

  • Putting Board of Trustees policies into action
  • Overseeing day-to-day Town operations and supporting department heads
  • Coordinating the annual Town budget with the Finance Director
  • Offering professional advice and recommendations to the Board of Trustees
  • Making sure the Town follows local, state, and federal rules
  • Representing the Town in regional partnerships and collaborations
  • Promoting clear communication and responsiveness to the community
  • Guiding long-term planning and strategic initiatives
  • Lead emergency response for the local government
  • The Town Administrator (or the Mayor) serves as the official spokesperson, providing official statements and responding to media inquiries on behalf of the Town.

Relationship with the Board of Trustees

The Town Administrator works under the direction of the Board of Trustees and is responsible for carrying out the Board's policies and decisions.  The Town Administrator helps make that vision a reality by managing operations, offering guidance, and carrying out Board decisions in a thoughtful, practical way.
