Background

In 2021 Lyons Board of Trustees passed the Lyons Climate Crisis Resolution and we resolved to take action as a community to do our “part to reach the State of Colorado's carbon reduction goals.

What Can We Do?

How can Lyons citizens make largest measurable impact, “do our part”, to reduce carbon and pollution?

We can replace our fossil-fuel based machines with electric:

Furnaces and Air Conditioners with Electric Heat Pumps

Gas Water Heaters with Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters

Gas Lawn Equipment with Electric Mowers, Trimmers, and Saws

Vehicles with Hybrids and Full Electric Vehicles

The efficiency of these machines are typically more than 200% to 500% better.

The best electric replacements are mature in design and designed for our climate.

The organization GoElectricColorado.org is willing to share their direct experience of energy efficiency as well as the comfort and clean air from changing to electric in  buildings, yard and on the road. They also have resources to local electrification focused HVAC, electrical and plumbing contractors.
