[ARCHIVED] Pipeline Relocations in Apple Valley

AV Alt Water LY25 Plan June 15 2018 map

From mid-June to Winter 2019, the Town of Lyons and City of Longmont will be relocating their existing waterlines, from the North St. Vrain Creek corridor to Apple Valley Road. These relocations will reduce the risk of damage and loss of water service from future natural disasters and flood events, as these pipelines provide drinking water to Longmont, Lyons, and Apple Valley residents along Apple Valley Road.

The Town and City have been in close coordination, as to minimize the impact to the residents in Apple Valley. Lyons will relocate a 12-inch drinking waterline, while the City will relocate a 24-inch raw waterline. Both pipelines were impacted by the 2013 Flood, and the project will be funded through federal recovery money.

A map of the pipeline relocations can be found here.

During construction, a 500-foot construction zone will be used for installation of the waterline. The construction zone will have traffic control to allow one-way access for emergency vehicles and access to private residence driveways, when private driveways are within the construction zone. At a public meeting of Apple Valley residents, it was determined that project's work days will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Boulder County Jurisdiction, and 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Town of Lyons jurisdiction, as to reduce the total duration of the project. The Town of Lyons and City of Longmont will coordinate the two projects whenever possible to minimize the impact to residents. At the end of each work day, Apple Valley will reopen to two way traffic.

If you have any questions or comments on the proposed project, you may contact Town of Lyons Recovery Lead, Tracy Sanders at
