LaVern M. Johnson Park

Previously Meadow Park

Bounded on three sides by the North St. Vrain Creek and sandstone cliffs, LaVern Johnson Park is a community favorite. There is an abundance of recreational opportunities which include picnic areas, RV and tent camping, playground area, Lyons Whitewater Park, splash pad, and an ice rink in the winter. LaVern Johnson Park offers plenty of room to escape and take in the beauty of Lyons.

The new Whitewater Park beckons to kayakers and tubers to drop in and go for a ride. The quarter mile horseshoe shape park has 8 features that are spread out nicely with big pools and eddies. Our Whitewater Park is the perfect challenge for the novice boater and an excellent time for the more experienced. On a hot summers day tubing is also available along the river.

LaVern Johnson Park is also home to wonderful picnic areas and shelter facilities that can be rented for events or parties. The park also has RV camping with full hookups, as well as camping for tents.

The camping season runs year-round; however, camping and shelter reservations may not be available during certain community events. Unavailable times and days are noted in the online reservation platforms (see the following sections below).
