Spring Maintenance, LaVern M. Johnson Park Closure

Wednesday, April 11 park closure

The Town has begun springtime seasonal maintenance, cleanup, and weed mitigation. On April 11, and possibly April 12, LaVern M. Johnson Park will be closed for the day, as a certified contractor will undergo weed mitigation and spraying. Notice will be sent and posted if the closure is extended to include Thursday, April 12.

In addition, Parks Staff, local contractors, and the Boulder County jail crew will be prepping garden beds, adding sand to the volleyball court, cutting back plants, adding mulch, and spot treating for weeds around town.

The Town asks for your cooperation by staying on the paths and being mindful of the landscape and maintenance personnel in the park this week. Please also note that irrigation zones are being pressure tested, and may suddenly come on at any time during the daytime hours. For safety, please always keep dogs on leash.

Black Bear Hole Construction

Black Bear Hole bridge and parking lot closed

Contractors have begun work rebuilding Arn Hole and Black Bear Hole, and have requested tighter control over the site for safety reasons. The Black Bear Hole pedestrian bridge, and parking lot, along with a significant portion of the trail area are closed. They do plan to leave a walkway along the north portion of the trail, connecting at 2nd Ave. bridge, for foot traffic.

The Town and the contractors working on all these projects are empathetic to the construction fatigue the residents of Lyons have been feeling since the flood. We understand the itch to get outdoors during this time of year, and we thank you for your continued patience.
