National Night Out

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office

National Night Out is TONIGHT Tuesday, Aug. 1

Free, family-friendly events will take place around Boulder County. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office invites the public to join them, and your neighbors, on Aug. 1 for an evening of community building. 

Every National Night Out location will have different activities taking place, but all locations will have free food, emergency vehicles, first responders, fire departments, safety demonstrations, local vendors, and children's activities. These are free, family-friendly events that are fun for all ages. Everyone is welcome.

When: 6-9 p.m.




Summer Concert Series

Sandstone Summer Concert Series 

Wednesday, Aug 2 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Join your neighbors and friends for the Sandstone Summer Concert Series. Next up is Charlie Rose and His Cactus Pals on Wednesday,  August 2.  This week there will also be an opportunity for residents to share their views on housing needs in Lyons, as part of a Colorado funded housing futures assessment.  

Make a plan to stop at one of our local restaurants first and grab some delicious local dinner to go to enjoy while at the concert. Support your local restaurants and have a fun night in Lyons!  Grab your friends, neighbors and family and come on out and celebrate summer!


LaVern Johnson Park Lease Information


Planet Bluegrass has leased LaVern Johnson Park from August 10-14  for the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. Bohn Park is available for picnics and tubing access. Per the lease agreement, residents may walk through the park with proof of local address.

Broadway Road Improvments

Broadway Road Improvements 

Work Begins in August 


The Town of Lyons, with funding from CDOT and DRCOG will begin road improvements to Broadway beginning this month. Similar to the improvements made to Main Street over a decade ago, the overall plan is to narrow the travel lanes, add parallel parking, sidewalks, curb extensions, a separate multi modal lane and upgrade the travel corridor. Construction is scheduled to last through the fall, with one lane closures Monday through Friday.

Powerline Utility Work

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association 

Utility Work near Middle/Senior High School


Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is working on their power lines that run along the trail next to the South Ledge Ditch, which is south of Lyons Middle Senior High School from the new Summit Housing Development to the Picture Rock Trail Head. They will also be placing the temporary overhead power lines at the southwest entrance to Carter Dr underground during this work as well. For safety they are closing the trail which is also their electric utility easement to the public until August 11th.

Lyons Summer Artisan Market

Rescheduled for Sat. Sept 9 

Mark your calendars Lyons! The Lyons Summer Artisan Market, with nearly 40 local vendors has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 9 from 10 am - 4 pm along the St Vrain in Bohn Park.  There will be live music from 1 - 3 pm and the Lyons Community Foundation will be on hand with their famous root beer floats and smoked barbeque offerings.

Lyons Community Foundation Grant Applications 

Applications Available Now


The Lyons Community Foundation (LCF) is pleased to announce their 16th Annual Community Support granting season. Applications for Community Support Grants are available to all local non-profit organizations. Apply online starting August 1st. Submissions are due before September 9, 2023. Electronic submissions are required; granting information and applications are available at the LCF website, lyonscf.org. Over the lifetime of the Community Support Grants program, LCF has awarded more than half a million dollars in grant awards. This year, nearly $50,000 will be made available to deserving recipients. 

Grants Review Committee 

Are you new to Lyons? Are you looking for opportunities to learn about the amazing projects led by local nonprofits? Are you in search of a way to give back to the community? If so, we welcome community members to apply to be on the Grants Review Committee. Commitment is two evenings in September. Applications to serve on the Grants Review Committee are available online lyonscf.org, and must be submitted by September 4, 2023.

US-36 Fiber Utility Work

CDOT project proceeds

The fiber utility contract work along US-36 just outside of town limits has returned beginning Sunday July 23, 2023 both days and nights. CDOT has granted a day lane closure (day work) variance until school starts up; Day lane closures are in effect through August 14, 2023. 

 

Night work (7pm-7am) and lane closures will be in effect once school begins. This is a CDOT project.
