Boulder County Fire Updates
NOON WED OCT 21
The Town of Lyons and the Lyons Fire Protection District wants to ensure that our community has the most up to date information regarding the local fires.
Lyons Park Estates, in unincorporated Boulder County (off of Red Gulch Rd) recently received an Everbridge Notification. They are being upgraded to an Evacuation Order.
This is being done out of an abundance of caution based on the high wind predictions that are supposed to occur this afternoon and into the evening. Lyons Fire would prefer that Lyons Park Estates be evacuated during the daylight hours in a more calm and collected fashion than if the fire activity did move towards their area tonight with the forecasted wind event.
If you are in Lyons Park Estates, please evacuate, and know that Lyons Fire Protection and Boulder County Sheriff have set 2pm as the time to get those neighbors evacuated with some time to pack things up and move out without rushing.
If anyone needs a hotel or other evacuation support, please plan on going to the Boulder County evacuation center at 3460 Broadway in Boulder via Hwy 66/75th through Hygiene through Boulder (in order to avoid the 36 closure).
The Sheriff’s Office will be on hand in the Lyons Park Estates area to assist, and will be going door to door to ensure everyone evacuates.
As a reminder, here is the list for how to best leave your home and what to take with you in a fire evacuation. The Boulder County Sheriff recommends locking your doors and windows. The utility companies will make the appropriate decision regarding gas and electric service. If you have propane, please turn tanks off.
All evacuation warnings for the Town of Lyons are still in place. As a reminder, an evacuation warning means to be prepared to leave at a moment's notice.
As many of you probably heard at last night's virtual community meeting, the winds are forecasted to pick up today.
We understand that remaining on warning and having this fire nearby can be incredibly stressful and exhausting. There are so many amazing people working on this fire, and they are prepared to respond to keep everyone safe.
We continue to remind all residents in the Town of Lyons to please sign up for the Boulder County emergency messaging system. Let your friends and neighbors know about this important alert service.
