LaVern Johnson Park is a historic park just 5 minutes from Downtown Lyons. Surrounded by sandstone cliffs, the fields, playground, and trail are perfect for an afternoon year-round. During the summer months enjoy river access and tubing. Activities at LaVern Johnson park include camping, tubing, picnics, field sports, playground access, trail access, and winter-time ice skating.
There are 16 RV sites with full hookups and 17 tent sites.
The RV camping season runs year-round. Tent camping is available from mid-April through mid-October. There are several community events that take place during the summer where camping and shelter reservations may not be available at LaVern Johnson Park.
Camping reservations must be made online. Reservations may be made up to 12 months in advance - weekends in summer traditionally fill up quickly. For more information about the rules and regulations on camping at LaVern Johnson Park, visit our Parks and Recreation Camping page.
Enjoy the river during the summer months, there are several access points to the St. Vrain River in LaVern Johnson Park. Bring your River tube or rent one from Rays River Rentals located in the concession stand in the park.

The Town of Lyons has three shelters/pavilions in LaVern M. Johnson Park available for rentals:
The Quarry Shelter, the St. Vrain Shelter, and the WPA Shelter/Pavilion.

Rent a pair of ice skates and enjoy an afternoon of outdoor ice skating in LaVern Johnson Park during the winter.
